It’s the most wonderful time of the year! I love decorating for the Holidays, and if you ask my husband, maybe a little too much. Haha. Our small home ends up with a tree in almost every room. They are smaller trees (so that’s completely normal and ok, right) ? I think it’s a gene I inherited from my Mother. haha.
I usually start to do a little bit of housecleaning ( because *gasp* you can’t decorate without housecleaning) haha, around mid November and then start to put out a few decorations around the last week of November. It takes me a while, not so much because i have a ton of stuff, but because I can’t decide where or how I want to put things. Anyone else like this? So there ends up being piles of garland and sparkles on the floor for weeks. ( I’m not kidding) haha. I am trying to improve on this…. It’s a work in progress…
We have artificial trees, so that’s not an issue. The last two years, I realized Link Terbaru have too much stuff (Christmas or otherwise) so I’ve been trying to edit and organize my decorations. In January of this year, when I started to put away last years decorations, I tried to organize as best I could to make decorating in the coming years easier and therefore quicker. It took me a long time (the irony is not lost on me) haha, and I ended up losing steam, so I fully plan to finish this year after the holidays π I’m hoping to have a post after the New year about what I did. That might be enough incentive for me to actually finish. haha.
I love flocked trees!, so you’ll definitely be seeing a few of them throughout my Christmas posts. π If you’ve never heard of them before, it means that they look “snowy”
The first place I always start to decorate is in our bedroom. ( I told you there was trees everywhere) haha. I like to start here because it only takes a couple of decorations and not much time and the room looks so festive and cozy and gets me in the mood to start the rest of the house.
I have a smaller flocked tree that I found a few years ago at Home Hardware. They don’t have it anymore but I will try and find a link with a similar one. It looks like it has a heavy coat of frost, more so than “snow” and it’s prelit, comes in only two pieces plus the stand. So it literally takes less than 10 minutes to set it up. Win win! π
The “Noel” pillow is from last year, Walmart i think. I couldn’t find it again but if you check on line there are litterally thousands of pillows. On the Walmart website I just typed in “Christmas pillows“.
I love the simple look of a wreath above the bed as well. This one is from Canadian tire from a few years ago. They do still carry them, as I bought a new one a couple weeks ago. ( Can you start to see my issue with too many decorations) haha. I did take some items to a second hand store recently , so logically that meant a few new things π I also recently bought the battery operated lights on the wreath (it doesn’t come prelit) and i can’t seem to remember where i bought them. I’ll try and find those to link as well.
The lights on the wreath are battery operated, and run on a timer. 6 hours on and 18 hours off. I love that feature.
I hang the wreath (and any wreaths or garland, usually) with a 3M command hook. ( I’ll link at the end of the post). If you take them off properly it doesn’t peel your paint, and when it’s removed, you’d never even know there was anything stuck to the wall. ( If you do use them, please read the directions first. I don’t want to be the reason you have to patch your paint π )
The round mirrored tray on the bed is also from Canadian Tire from a few years ago. It’s no longer on the website but i have seen it in the store this year.
I love to sit here and read a book with a nice cup of coffee, or glass of wine in the evenings, especially since I don’t yet have up the main tree.
What are some of your favorite ways to start decorating and when do you like to start? Do you also houseclean first?
Now, lets get (insert your favorite drink here), and turn on a Hallmark Christmas movie! Who’s with me? haha
Thanks for stopping by! π
