Last year I decided our bedroom needed a refresh, and I longed for bright/crisp white bedding and a look for the room that resembled a “beach” without looking too “beachy”. I love natural textures and neutrals and had my eye on a white duvet cover. We had recently gotten a new mattress and I wanted to spruce up the room from greys to brighter and fresher colors and my thinking was a white backdrop for the bed would allow me to change the pillows on the bed and accessories in the room occasionally without worrying about trying to get everything to match.
When deciding on the white bedding, I put it off for a while, as I thought how am I going to keep it white?! We have no children but we do have a litte dog who occasionally sleeps in the bed with us, with little dirty feet! I read different blogs and a lot of them featured white bedding in the master bedrooms, so surely if other people could keep it clean, so could I! haha
I shopped around (a lot) until I found one that I really liked. I didn’t want it to look too busy visually. I found this one at Bed Bath and Beyond (I will check and see if it’s still available and post the link) https://www.bedbathandbeyond.ca/store/product/charisma-reg-bianco-duvet-cover-collection/244494?keyword=white-duvet-covers I also ended up purchasing the king size duvet and duvet cover, even though we have a queen bed, so it would fall farther down each side of the bed.
It’s been about a year and 3 months and It’s still looking crisp and white!
I wash it about every 2 months or so, depending on how dingy it’s starting to look, using oxi clean white revive and following the directions on the container. ( I recommend this for any dingy whites)
If you look really closely, there are small specks of a bit of dirt around the top but the pillows hide it 😉 I blame this little fur ball for those. haha.
I put the blanket on the bed for him to sleep on when he’s in bed with me/us, so you can see how well that works 😉
All the accessories are Home Sense finds (pillows, headboard and lamp)
Wall color is Halo by Benjamin Moore.
I’m still on the lookout for a few more accessories for the wall above the bed and a smaller pillow to add in front of those grey ones. And possibly larger nightstands, I just need to find the “perfect” ones. haha
Thanks for stopping by, hope this inspired something in you for your own home! 🙂
